APILON™ 52 is a line of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) with excellent mechanical properties, high elasticity, and superior resistance to low temperatures. They can be customized to meet specific application requirements. The family of APILON™ 52 TPUs includes soft and rigid grades (ester-, ether-, and hybrid ester-ether-based), as well as special polycarbonate-based grades and also original compounds that offer enhanced compatibility with both polar and non-polar polymers; the latter are particularly well-suited for overmolding and co-extrusion.
The versatility of APILON™ 52 makes it ideal for multiple applications. In athletic footwear, APILON™ 52 is used to manufacture high-quality shoe soles, ski boots, ice-skates, and football cleats. Technical applications include gaskets, abrasion-resistant tubes and cables, transmission belts, and sieves for abrasive products. In automotive and engineering applications, APILON™ 52 provides designers with more freedom to create aesthetically pleasing, durable parts such as trim pieces, tactile surfaces, sealings or door handles.
As a result of their optimum bonding properties with various structural techno-polymers, modified APILON™ 52 grades can be used as the soft component in applications constructed from a combination of materials with different degrees of hardness. Examples include handles and grips for tools, small domestic appliances, household goods, electronic accessories, gaskets and washers for tubing or containers.
Furthermore, customers use APILON™ 52 products for coverings where the superior durability of TPU with the look and feel of rubber is required.
