Trinseo created STYRON™ C-TECH Polystyrene Resin in response to the growing consumer demand to preview food purchases on the shelf.
STYRON™ C-TECH Polystyrene Resin is used in several extrusion applications including transparent food containers produced using the conventional extrusion/thermoforming process. STYRON™ C-TECH Polystyrene Resin is also used as an impact modifier in biaxially oriented polystyrene (OPS) sheet for the production of bakery and delicatessen packaging items, and as a gloss cap layer in opaque sheets, e.g. for refrigerator door liners. In these applications, its excellent processability and high gloss – together with its exceptionally low odor and taste levels – improve on traditional transparent resin blends.
STYRON™ C-TECH Polystyrene Resin shows a balance between clarity, stiffness, and toughness. The clarity is achieved through adequate processing conditions during thermoforming.
